The Uganda internet market is dominated by mobile internet. The mobile internet subscription now stands at 15.2 million up from 14.3 million and Internet penetration grew from 36.8% to 37.9%, which reflects that fact that there is still more room to grow for the telecom industry when it comes to mobile delivery.  The total market (this includes both Over the Top OTT and web access) internet penetration now stands at ~38%.

Internet users have increased from 22.8 million to 23 million with an estimated growth of 0.7% between Q2 2019 and Q3 2019. This means an automatic increase in the number of smartphones on the market. UCC puts this figure at 5.6 million versus 16 million feature phones, this shows that there has been a steady growth smartphone registered on network of 0.8% between Q2 2019 and Q3 2019.
