The Surface Studio is Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s iMac if not more

Microsoft officially unveiled the long awaited all-in-one PC dubbed the Surface PC. There was nothing to marvel about given leaks had already spoilt the party but, nevertheless, it gives Microsoft a new direction especially with its Surface line of hardware. The Surface line has held still with a tablet and a hybrid laptop-tablet form factors but the Surface Studio marks Redmond’s foray into the marque all-in-one desktop market.

Microsoft claims that the Surface Studio has the world’s thinnest multi-touch LCD monitor ever built at 12.5mm and it measures 28-inches diagonal with a 4500×3000 resolution, counting a display output of 13.5 million pixels, which is arguably 63% more than a 4K resolution.

The Surface Studio seem to be targeted at creatives, a stronghold for Apple that claims photographers, designers and videographers amongst its iMac clientele but with an expanded color output, a display ratio of 3:2 and 192ppi  plus raw power from Intel’s Skylake processors together with integrated Nvidia GTX 980M or 965M GPUs (depending on configuration), it remains to be seen if Microsoft will lure these creatives to the Surface Studio.

The Surface Studio is supported by a 20-degree orientation hinge that allows it to be adjusted, making it convenient for one to doodle or markup documents. It also comes 3D support and Microsoft added the Surface Pen and the all new Surface Dial peripherals, the Dial can trigger menus and other features like adjusting volume, screen brightness, or scrolling through a document.

All the above augment creativity that seems to be Microsoft’s focus with the Studio. Below are the specs for the Surface Studio
