With only a few days to go to the SIM card verification deadline, MTN has found more effective ways of getting people to register their SIM cards so as to beat the Friday 19th May deadline set by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). MTN has now added another option of submitting one’s registration details for validation besides using the *197# USSD code prompts, by using online methods. At the domain http://register.mtn.co.ug/.
This new online option not only allows you to use both your National ID for Ugandans and Passport for non-Uganda in order to validate your details.
This portal (screenshot below) allows MTN customers to fill in, details of their National ID or passports.
Its is advisable that you first check your registration status using the *197# code and only take this procedure if your verification details are lacking or if you’re prompted that you’re not registered.
