Meizu is perhaps a rare smartphone brand here in Uganda, but that doesn’t stop the innovation on smartphones from happening elsewhere. The new Meizu flagship Android devices, the Pro 7 and the Pro 7 Plus have been announced come with the latest smartphone specifications to rival Samsung and the rest plus also some new hardware features. The most unique feature from the Pro 7 line is that secondary AMOLED display on the back of the device.
Whether this will be a gimmick or not, Meizu has shown off the second screen being used to display things like notifications, weather, time, music, and more. It also serves as a screen for taking selfies with the phones’ rear-facing cameras. We think this will be a cool gimmick for selfie buff especially snapchatters. Meizu’s implementation of the secondary camera does look pretty slick based on what we’ve seen so far and we might see other phone makers xerox this idea.
Besides the second screen, the two phones seem to offer decent hardware. See spec sheet below;
The Meizu 7 pro
Screen size: 5.2-inch, 1080p Super AMOLED display
RAM: 4GB of RAM
Processor: Helio P25 processor
The Meizu Pro 7 Plus
Screen: 5.7-inch QHD display
Storage : Option of 64GB or 128GB of storage
Processor: A Helio P30 processor
Battery : A larger 3500mAh battery
Both phones support Meizu’s mCharge technology for faster charging. On the photography side of things, both phones over a dual-camera setup on the back with two 12-megapixel sensors, as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Meizu Pro 7 is will cost about $430 (UGX 1,548,000), while the Pro 7 Plus will run for around $530 (UGX 1,908,000). Both phones will go on sale in mainland China on August 5th, but no release information for other countries has been announced yet.
