After a long time of waiting for this device, HTC has decided to reveal its latest Android flagship during a worldwide launch event today. And while it may carry the same name as its predecessor, the new One features a slightly changed design with a bigger display, curvier metal sides, and a dual-camera system. According to HTC CEO Peter Chou on stage in New York City, “It takes the best smartphone in the world and makes it better in every way, the design is so pure and honest.”
The new One features among many
- A 5-inch, 1080p screen (which works out to 440 ppi)
- Brand new Snapdragon 801 processor.
- microSD card slot
- Above all else, it carries over the gorgeous brushed metal design of the original One.
HTC Sense 6 has been redesigned from top to bottom and it looks modern and easier to read. “We’ve redesigned Sense from top to bottom, touching every pixel along the way,” said HTC’s Jonah Becker. Sixth Sense, as the company is calling it, retains many features from 2013 like BlinkFeed — HTC’s Flipboard-like homescreen — Zoe, and a TV remote, but flattens the overall appearance into something more “intuitive” and “bold.”
The New Blinkfeed allows custom feeds from any topics and New content. HTC has already bought Foursquare and Fitbit on board and partnered with to launch fitness and tracking features within the phone. Sense TV has also been drastically improved.
HTC boom sounds has been improved with a finely tuned multi-band amplifier as they have redesigned the speaker chambers to allow 25% more depth so as to give clear sound. For those worried about battery life, HTC M8 has improved to last 40% longer than last year’s HTC One and has a power saver mode for normal use. The company has promised another power-saver mode later after this official launch which promises 2 weeks in stand by mode, how great..
New cool features like double tap screen to turn the screen on or off, auto answering of calls by holding the hole to the ear have been introduced in the M8. The company has also launched a DOTview flip case to show you the time and weather for easy quick viewing without opening the phone.
