The Internet Society today announced that it will hold the first ever Africa Regional Internet and Development Dialogue from 8-9 May 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda, in partnership with UNESCO and Republic of Rwanda.
As the Mobile Money evolution continues, MTN Rwanda, has introduced MTN Tap&Pay, the first Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile money payment solution in Rwanda.
Rwanda is sent to get the world's first drone airport and the first one is set to be ready by 2020 and is sent to kick off next year. The fleets of drones are designed to carry crucial goods such as medicine. They drones will be cheap, simple and robust, and will have payloads of up to 100 kg (220lb), while the droneports will function as hubs to allow recharging, cargo loading and drop-off, as well as repairs.
Leading internet service provider Airtel Rwanda has today participated in the opening of the first ever 4G Square in Rwanda. In partnership with Olleh Rwanda Networks and being presided over by the Minister for Youth and ICT- Hon. Jean Philbert Nsengimana, the 4G Square was launched in Kigali at the Grand Pension Plaza.
In August last year, it was officially announced that four of the six East Africa member states which include Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan signed multilateral agreements to have one telecommunications framework dubbed as “One-Network-Area”. This week we start to see the fruits of these agreements, as MTN Uganda and Airtel Rwanda have led the way in implementing the project.
