Moquid, A Ugandan software company has signed a licensing agreement with Smart Initiative of Rwanda to launch the Smart parent app in Uganda. The Smart Parent App is a tracking and monitoring software that notifies schools about the student’s behavior, health status, hygiene, class room attendance and discipline. This is done on a daily basis and reports are then sent to the parents through SMS or other internet solutions, reports the The New Times of Rwanda.
The Smart Parent App ensures that teachers generate reports for all students for a requested period, generate a report per category and per student for a requested period, and compile all reports and send them mobile on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Bienfait Bitenyo, Moquid Director is quoted to have said,“I see this the Smart Parent app working better in Uganda because of proximity whereby schools tend to be far yet parents need to have that timely information. Also, parents tend to send their children to boarding schools at a very young age in Uganda and I believe that the application will help in bridging the gap between the visiting days on Sundays to everyday,”.
He continues, Moquid is in preparations to carry out a pilot phase in a number of schools that have already been identified and the initiative has already requested for the support of the Education Minister, Hon. Janet Museveni, who also doubles as the First Lady.
Moquid hopes to cover Kenya and South Sudan in three and five weeks time respectively and it boasts of operations in more than five African countries, which they hope will help them scale easily.
