[signoff predefined=”Movie Review Signoff” icon=”icon-book”]Muslim communities in Kibuli and Old Kampala Mosques received assortment of food items and Ramadan gift hampers from MTN Uganda as part of the Company’s holy month give-back drive and association with the Muslim community. Last year, MTN Uganda created a celebratory mood around the holy month of Ramadan at Luzira Prison Mosque and several other mosques in and around Kampala where a team from MTN Uganda offered donations of food items to Luzira prison inmates and Muslim communities. In what has become an annual theme, this year the MTN staff will visit Kibuli Mosque on Friday 18th July 2014 and attend Juma prayers before donating the items. This will be followed with a visit to Old Kampala Mosque on 25th July 2014. The total cost of the initiative is UShs. 24 million for both activations. In both Mosques, MTN will distribute 400 gift hampers containing an assortment of items. The beautifully wrapped gift hampers are all branded with a Quran message. “MTN Uganda appreciates the significance of this fasting season among the Muslim community. Our visit to the mosques is testimony to our pledge to continue making a difference in the lives of our customers and especially now, in the lives of our Muslim brothers and sisters as they mark this fasting month of Ramadan,” said Yasin Ramadan who is MTN Uganda’s Senior Manager- Planning and Optimization in the Network Division. The Imam of Kibuli Mosque Sheikh Zubairi Sowed on behalf of the Kibuli Mosque community has hailed MTN for always responding to the needs of the communities in the country and for always showing the spirit of solidarity with the Muslims. Speaking about the initiative, the Sheikh said; “We welcome your kind gesture and appeal to other corporates to emulate this remarkable spirit of sharing that MTN has continuously exhibited not only to the Muslims but also to other entities” he said. The MTN Uganda staff representative Yasin Ramadan, said MTN Uganda will continue with the spirit of association with its diverse customer segments in a show of solidarity and appreciation of support it has received over the years. He urged the Muslim communities to utilize the recently launched Mfaith service which MTN designed to help its customers from different faiths to access daily quotes from the Holy Quran or the Bible. MTN is a brand that welcomes and respects diversity in all forms.[/signoff]
