After Ernst Fonternel’s contract ended in July last year, the MTN Group appointed Ms Mapula Bodibe to replace him as of January 2015. Ms Bodibe is a qualified Chartered Marketer with 10 years’ experience working in the Telecommunications sector. She also comes with more than 15 years of solid Consumer Marketing experience, developing and implementing profitable Customer Value Propositions to the market to drive sales and revenue whilst building long lasting relationships with customers.
Her role in MTN Uganda will entail being responsible for the planning, development and execution of the organization’s marketing strategy in order to build the MTN brand and drive the company’s market share growth in line with business objectives. According to a group statement,
“She was involved in the pioneering world first launch of the MTN Zone product within the MTN Group in 2007 and has contributed to the strength of the brand through development of highly competitive products,”
Since 2010 till her appointment to Uganda, Ms Bodibe has been General Manager Consumer Marketing segments at MTN South Africa. She joined MTN in 2005 as a Segment Manager:Consumer Marketing Segments from KFC South Africa Corporation where she was an Assistant Brand manager. She began her carrer in January 2001 as a customer marketing representative at Unilever South Africa.
