Matibabu Project scoops HESN Global Contest

Brian Gitta a Makerere Student was invited as a ResilientAfrica Network student to take part in the HESN TechCon 2013 and for sure he never came back empty handed. His team’s app managed to beat other six apps to win the contest. Matibabu is a mobile Application for early, non-invasive malaria diagnosis with a phone and a custom piece of hardware that they named the Matiscope.

In all the Universities that attended, Makerere scooped top prize, followed by the College of William and Mary’s AidData Centre for Development Policy, University of California, Barkley and then Duke University.

We hope such a trend of innovation continues among African youth and solve day to day life problems with the help of ICT.  You can watch the video below for more info about Matibabu.
